Major Inch

Works with paintings, drawings and mixed media artworks. By experimenting with aleatoric processes, Major looks at the dynamics of land and seascape, and then manipulates the viewer to focus on aspects of his paintings that he feels are important. Rather than presenting a factual reality, an illusion is fabricated that heightens our imagination. His paintings isolate the movements of humans and/or objects. In doing so, new sequences are created which reveal a relationship between motion and nature. In crossing the divisions between memory/or experience and the dream world the results are deconstructed to the extent that meaning is shifted and possible interpretation becomes multifaceted. His thought processes, which are private, subjective and unfiltered, form the bases of the artist’s subjective associations and formal parallels, which incite the viewer to make new connections. His works establish a link between the painting’s reality and that imagined by its conceiver. Major currently lives and works in Kapa`a, Kauai, Hawaii.
